Build Diary: Figure Rise Standard Kamen Rider Double LunaTrigger

Yadda, yadda, sold to me by Forbidden Planet, not sponsored, this was the kit I bought alongside the previous build diary, etc, etc.

This should be a quick and simple one, glancing ahead at the manual. I at least hope there are fewer little niggles like the cape and chest of Omegamon. Don't really have much to say since I'm not massively familiar with this side of the Kamen Rider franchise (I was more a Fourze/Den-O guy a few years back), so let's open the box and snip some plastic out.

Aw shucks, this kit comes with a stand! Much appreciated! There's also not that many runners in this kit (Excluding the stand, I count a total of 8, four of which are very small), which is a welcome departure from the past several kits I've done with tons and tons of runners. Much as I like the HG Destiny Gundam, it was a little bit of a hassle to keep stuff organized.

Head

Normally I'd be rather annoyed at the fact that I have to work with those folding stickers, but I nonetheless like the effect where a transparent part is placed over a reflective sticker. In the case of a figure with large noticeable eyes as a Kamen Rider usually has, this is quite satisfying. The signature insect-like eye texture being applied to the red transparent parts is a wonderful touch. Admittedly, finding the right rotation of the red part is a little awkward, but if it looks like the right alignment with the top of the head and clicks into place (rather than falling out easily), you've got it right.
The tiny red diamond on the middle of the horns is a sticker that I recommend attaching before clipping it off the runner (with fine tweezers, obviously).

I'm a little annoyed at the left (trigger) side of the horn, it always seems a bit warped and bent no matter how often I try to wrench it back into position. But it's entirely possible that that's just a "me specifically" issue more than an issue with the kit design itself.

Body

For some reason, the stripe on the Trigger side has a sticker to fill in the detail rather than a plain part. Not sure why that's the case, but then again I'm also not sure how it'd look if the same principle as the Luna side was applied to the Trigger side.

I'm assuming the two tiny parts in the back are for the purpose of the armour lines appearing the way they do on the back.

Right Arm

The manual specifies that this part to the right of the above image goes with the hollow side on this specific side. And I say "hollow side" singular because the other side is textured. I didn't end up making this mistake, but be aware of this and pay attention to what the diagram in the manual said - this part isn't the same on either side.

Apologies for the lack of a completed right arm picture, I forgot to take one during assembly and found it was attached to the full kit by the time I was editing. (And no, I'm not taking it off just for that purpose - the join is so secure I feel like I might break it if I try). You can have one of the completed left arm instead.

Left Arm

I mean, apart from the colour, the biggest difference is the sticker on the wrist part, similar to the stripe on the chest.

Right Leg

Left Leg

Again, the only difference is the sticker around the ankle.

We just need something to tie it all together now, preferably with a device for Henshin purposes!

Waist

The stickers on the Gaia Memories look a little annoying, but I find the easier method is to use tweezers to attach them while the parts are on the runner, and then clipping them off.

And now to put it all together!
In the absence of polycaps, I'm liking how solid the joins between the parts feel. We've got one more thing to do...

Weapon

The blue side isn't referred to as "Trigger" for nothing after all.
And now let's equip the gun...
Well, it's gonna stand up more easily when it's on the stand, but even without that, I appreciated the simplicity of this kit. While this will only be useful if I get my hands on other variants of this kit, I like the fact that in keeping with the source material's gimmick, each coloured side of the Kamen Rider can be detached and replaced with a different colour easily, such as changing the Luna side with the Cyclone side. If you want something simple to ease your way into the Figure Rise line, I can pretty safely recommend the Kamen Rider W variants.

Stay safe and keep clipping, folks!

The Good

+ Simple build
+ Impressive posability
+ Nice little details (if filled in by stickers)
+ Fun swapping gimmick if you get the other versions

The Bad
- Personal gripe, but mine came with the antenna slightly bent
